Course Objectives | This course provides students with an advanced-level understanding of the processes responsible for the absorption and emission of continuum and line radiation from gas and dust in stellar atmospheres and interstellar space, and their astrophysical applications and implications. This is an elective course for the astrophysics theme. This is also an essential course for those who plan to pursue postgraduate studies in astronomy and astrophysics. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Course Contents & Topics | Gas, dust, atoms, molecules, radiation; physical and radiative properties of hydrogen, helium and heavier elements; hydrogen clouds, molecular clouds; HII regions, nebulae, supernovae. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
